Dance Activities

In this department the students are trained in rhythmic foot patterns and different body postures and movements. Various mythological themes are taken up and performed by the students in school assemblies at special festivals. Simple foot and hand movements are taught at class I and class II level. This is followed by specific movements of Kathak, Bharatnatyam or odissi classical styles of dancing. Folk dances of different states provide a rich and uneding source of inspiration. The different sounds, costumes and movements specific to each style give the children an insight to this age old form of celebration and revelry. Occasionally mythological themes may be presented in a dance-drama form. Some times students are also exposed of dances of other traditions like Western 'Rock' 'n' 'Roll' or the Russian style of ballet.
